Engr. Usman Abdul Ghafoor B.E. (Mechanical & Electrical) PE, MIE after having acquired sufficient post qualification experience with  organizations like Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works and Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation set up Insurance Survey Office styled  as Ghafoor & Associates in 1966 in a small room on the ground floor of PMA Building, Karachi. It proved successful and soon we had to move in a more spacious office on first floor of the same building. In 1973 some more surveyors joined and the office needed yet bigger space and was shifted to 3rd floor of Nadir House. In 1985 we acquired 4 spacious rooms on 5th  floor of Business Centre, Karachi, where the office is now housed.

Ghafoor & Associates was initially set up as a proprietary concern. In  fall of 1988 in order to perpetuate as a legal entity of its own it was incorporated as a Private Limited Company. Under Certificate of Incorporation from Corporate Law Authority it started functioning as Ghafoor Associates Private Limited on January 01, 1989. Ghafoor Associates Private Limited on that day emerged  as the first ever Private Limited Loss Adjuster firm in Pakistan with its founder engineer as the first Director and Chief Executive. His son Dr. Shoaib U. Ghafoor became the second founder Director. In 1999 Mr. Ghafoor's second son, Engr. Ovais U. Ghafoor, also became Director who was working as a senior surveyor for a long period. Unfortunately on November 27, 1999, the founder of  Ghafoor Associates Private Limited & First Chief Executive Mr. U.A. Ghafoor passed away; but he was  succeeded by his two qualified sons Dr. Shoaib U. Ghafoor & Engr. Ovais U. Ghafoor. Later on Engr. Ovais U. Ghafoor was elected as the new Chief Executive of the firm by the board of directors. Dr. Shoaib U. Ghafoor, Mr. Mir Iftikhar Ali & Engr. Aysha Ovais are other directors presently.
